Dates are Saturdays:
Oct 24, Nov 14 & Dec 12. Only 10 spaces available because of Covid.

African Percussion Circle: 11-12.30
Life is Rhythm dance class: 13-15.

Dancing is one of the oldest healing tools in the human experience and since 2015 we have spread joy during both dark and happy times in Stockholm. The African drum teaches us how to live life in rhythm, to stay present through ups and downs and feel connected to each other. Many more modern dances can be traced back to African roots such as swing, blues, street dance, salsa, samba and many more. What you can find in common in these styles is the connection to the rhythm and that people have danced to express themselves and feel connected to others.
In most African traditions, you are no one without your community, there is an African proverb that says: alone you can go fast, but together we can go far. Even more so in these Corona times; we need to find ways to come together.

In our team we are: Celso (Moz) ,Li Storm (Swe), Henry Kaboe (Tanz), Ato (Gha), plus frequent guest teachers from other parts of Africa and Sweden.

PROGRAM:

11-12.30 African Percussion circle
12.30-13 Break - Bring snacks to share!
13.00 Life is Rhythm Dance class; Warm up, games and get together followed by traditional dances from the teacher of the day.
14.30-15.00: Life is Rhythm Healing circle
African Percussion Circle:
Bring your own drum or borrow one from us. Let us together explore different rhythms, polyrhythms and signals mainly from East African and Southern African tradition, but other rhythms are also welcome. Play with your hands or bring drum sticks to explore new ways of playing African drums. We also look at how the rhythm is connected to the movement of the dancers.
Level: Mixed levels, you will be challenged depending on your previous experience while the focus is to find the unity in the circle.

Life is Rhythm Dance Class
Each class starts with getting down in your body, and get support from the drum to leave your mind and feel connected to the group. We do different playful exercises followed by movements from different African traditional dances, the origin of the dance depends on the teacher. At the end we unite around the Life is Rhythm Healing Circle: a way to come together and release stuck emotions and open up for presence and joy.
Level: This class is more about letting go and invite connection than about skill level, just come and try it out and you will know if it is for you.

PRICE: Book in advance: 500 for both drum & dance class. 250 for single class. You need to book before each event.
